The term “dating” in general should be used when two people decide that they want to take their relationship further. It’s very simple but rumors of who is dating and who is not tend to flock, mainly because not a lot of people hang out with the opposite gender for the sake of personal impression. Rumors involving “the couple” would go around as well, which can cause confusion and disagreement between the couple themselves, even after they start dating. Dating is not something people are obliged to assume but something that turns out to be a fun experience, whether it goes on or not. If the relationship does not go on, no rumor should push the couple to get back together; it’s their choice.

The simple answer to this question is that dating is when two people decide that they want to date. However, as high school students in 2017 we love to make things more complicated than they actually are. People create rumors about who is dating and who is not, and lines which used to be drawn about what dating is have become severely distorted. This question really lies in the eye of the beholder, but in my opinion the answer is very simple. When two people decide that they want to date and go out on a date they are dating until they don’t want to anymore. Maybe that’s just me being clingy or overly optimistic about the current state of our generation, and most high school kids would probably disagree with me, because we love to make things more complicated than they need to be. It’s dating! It’s supposed to be fun! We don’t need to analyze it too much.
