DeMatha Catholic High School’s Student Government Association recently reported an overwhelmingly positive response to Spirit Week, highlighting successful events that brought the student body together. “The SGA was really happy with how the pep rally, the cookout, the football game, and the homecoming dance went,” shared Mr. Sicko. The cookout alone fed more than 150 students, and the SGA generously covered football game tickets, fostering a sense of community among attendees.
The culmination of the week’s activities, particularly the pep rally, created an atmosphere of unity. “It was a great sight to see all the students from different grades and houses come together as One DeMatha,” said Senior Representative Jalen Neptune. This spirit of collaboration and engagement was further exemplified by the homecoming shirts designed by junior Ian Clarke, which contributed to the lively atmosphere.
Looking ahead, the SGA is eager to maintain this momentum. “We have some fun and creative ideas for new events we may try to do this year,” Mr. Sicko noted. One of the upcoming initiatives is a tag day scheduled for November 29 to support relief efforts for those affected by hurricanes, including Hurricane Helene. This commitment to community service demonstrates the SGA’s dedication to not only enhancing school spirit but also making a positive impact beyond the school walls. As students and staff alike reflect on the success of Spirit Week, anticipation builds for future events that promise to continue creating unity and school pride at DeMatha.
