Odell Beckham Jr has revived his career with the Baltimore Ravens. Despite being the 3rd receiver on the depth chart and missing the entire 2o22 season he has bounced back and has the 2nd best stats out of all the receivers on the Ravens with 35 catches for 565 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. But it hasn’t been smooth sailing for OBJ for the past year though.
OBJ started his career in New York, drafted in the first round by the Giants in 2014. After making one of the greatest catches, if not the greatest catch of all time, he became the first player to record more than 75 receptions, 1,100 yards, and 10 touchdowns in a rookie season. He won rookie of the year 2014, capping off one of the greatest rookie receiver seasons ever.
Passionate senior Fernando Rodriguez said, “OBJ has become a great receiver.” Despite the injuries he has had to battle through, Fernando says Beckham “was still able to grow…as a receiver and now later on he’s better.”In Beckham’s sophomore season he had his best statistics, catching 96 passes for 1,450 and 13 touchdowns and went to the Pro Bowl. The following year he had another great season with 100 catches for 1,367 yards and 10 touchdowns and was named an All-Pro was selected to another Pro Bowl.
But in week 5 of the 2017 season, OBJ went down against the Chargers with a broken ankle and missed the rest of the 2017 season. He bounced back with the Giants in 2o18 but his stats were a little low for OBJ’s standards. In the 2019 off-season, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns in a blockbuster trade that excited the whole NFL world and the Browns had tons of hype going into the season.
Junior Naim Dominque said, “He wasn’t the same as when he was on the Giants, but he is still good.” But, unfortunately, the Browns did not live up to the hype despite OBJ still having another 1,000-yard season. Despite all the yards, Beckham only found the end zone 4 times as the Browns finished 6-10 and third in their division.
During the 2020 season, he got off to a fast start but suffered an ACL injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7 after chasing down one of Baker Mayfield’s interceptions. 2021 got off to a rocky start. Beckham and the Browns struggled and a video OBJ’s father made about Baker Mayfield missing him on some plays started controversy. Ultimately, it led to OBJ being traded to the Los Angeles Rams mid-season where he did great. Serving as the WR2, he had 48 catches for 593 yards and 7 touchdowns on the Rams as they went all the way to the Super Bowl.
Unfortunately, Beckham suffered another ACL injury against the Bengals in the Super Bowl. While the Rams went on to win the game, it was another setback for Beckham but the Rams ended up winning the game though. even after a solid year he was not resigned by the Rams following the game. And spent the 2022 season rehabbing getting back to 100% there was possibilities of OBJ signing with the Cowboys or Giants late in the season but those didn’t come to fruition. But in April of 2023 he ultimately signed a one year deal worth up to 17 million and has rebounded his career. OBJ has a cool connection to DeMatha his stepdad is Derek Mills who is a Olympic track runner and gold medalist.
