On Wednesday, March 13, the sophomores from DeMatha Catholic High School went on a retreat. They visited the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in D.C. During the retreat, students listened to different speaker on how to become a man the right way.
Sophomore Jordan Stevens expressed his enjoyment of the retreat, stating that he “liked the retreat and what I learned.” Although he was a fan of the retreat, one thing that Jordan didn’t like was how he couldn’t go down to the garden area. Jordan said, “The places that I was able to see were beautiful, but I was a little frustrated that I couldn’t see everything that the Monastery had.”
Bryson Backus enjoyed the Mass celebrated during the retreat. “I was very impressed on how the inside of the church looked,” Bryson said. “Also I was shocked that this is an exact replica in the one in Egypt.”
The sophomore retreat was a great experience that Bryson, Jordan, and many other sophomores enjoyed. With all the laughter and joy the class of 2026 had as a group, this may be one of the best retreats the sophomores have had so far.
