While everyone at DeMatha is looking to see how the varsity track program will do at the WCAC championships, the JV team held theirs on April 30 at Elizabeth Seton. Out of the eight boys teams in the WCAC who participated at the meet, the squad finished 4th overall with 84 total points.
Junior Malachi Wilson ran the 400m dash and the 4x800m relay. “As a team, I think we did alright. I think our 4×400 and 4×800 team stood out and were the bright spots,” Malachi said.
In the 4x400m relay, the team finished with a 3:35.36 and for the 4x800m a time of 9:07.66. Malachi says one of the JV athletes who stood out to him during the season was Jeremey Mack, who ran the 100m dash at the JV WCAC Championship. “He performed very well and gave it his all.” Mack wasn’t the only athlete junior varsity athlete who stood out to Malachi. “This squad had some of the purest dedication that I have seen from new runners, especially underclassmen.”
The DeMatha track program is looking bright for years to come.
