Every school year, DeMatha hosts the traditional Walk-A-Thon. Students, faculty members, and families this year are raising money for MOMcares, which is an organization that helps provide mothers and babies in Baltimore with supplies, nursing service, and educational support.
This year many students participated and the school surpassed the expected amount of donations. Senior Oliver King said, “I really think this is for a good cause, especially for mothers that seek help.” It’s very important to see how people collaborate with an organization that helps out mothers and babies.
Freshman Alex Ventura is preparing for his first time participating. “I was very happy to see how this school participates in fundraising like these,” Alex said.
DeMatha is known for helping out the community and building a brotherhood to make sure that the communities that we help out get the best support they need. The school has done the Walk-A-Thon since 2003 and to this day it’s still happening.
