On Friday, the DeMatha Stags delivered a commanding performance against Our Lady of Good Counsel, cruising to a 35-7 win in a matchup featuring two of the top teams in the state. This decisive victory extends DeMatha’s winning streak to six games and boosts their season record to 6-1
The Stags defense was impressive, holding the Falcons to their lowest-scoring game of the season.
DeMatha’s offense was equally strong, controlling the game from start to finish. This win reinforces DeMatha’s reputation as one of the state’s most dominant teams.
Sophomore Trent Small, reflected on the game. “I feel like we did good during this game. I feel like we could have done a lot of things better during that game, but overall it was a good win.” His sentiments were echoed by fellow sophomore Jared Taylor, who added, “Overall, I think we did great. The defense did their job and so did the offense, so this was a great win.”
Looking ahead, DeMatha will face St. John’s at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams bring strong momentum – St. John’s is riding a three-game home winning streak, while DeMatha has won three straight on the road. One of these streaks will come to an end in what promises to be a high-stakes battle.
