The cancellation of the highly anticipated bonfire event saddened many students in the DeMatha community. This left students to think and speculate what next events BSU has in store for our school.
Many rumors have been circulating about a reschedule of the bonfire event at a later time. BSU moderator Mr. Gill confirmed that these rumors are untrue. Instead, the BSU is planning a block party. In a recent interview Mr. Gill shared, “The BSU will be hosting a block party in the spring. There’s no further logistics on that event but it is in the works; we will have this event to make up for the cancellation of the bonfire.”
Nicholas DeLeon, student president of the BSU, talked about a possible “powderpuff football match with Elizabeth Seton, DeMatha’s sister school, where DeMatha students will cheerleader.” With the end of football season, it is unclear if this event is still in the works or ultimately got scrapped.
In the meantime, what parents can look forward to is a Sip and Paint the BSU is hosting on November 23. Mr. Gill described it as “a night out for adults to listen to music, try their hand in the art world with different painting, drawing, and enjoying the DeMatha community.”
Overall as the school year continues, BSU is continuing to host amazing events and giving new opportunities for DeMatha students, and the broader community, to connect and celebrate.
