This year, DeMatha’s soccer program underwent many changes. The biggest of these was a new coaching staff arriving to the team, and the season was right around the corner.
Coach Evan and Coach Martinez, who were previously coaches in DeMatha’s basketball program, stepped up to be the coaches for the JV soccer team. Although they didn’t have much experience with coaching a soccer team, they made sure that they were going to start strong in their first season of coaching DeMatha Soccer.
At the end of the season, the record for the JV team was 7-2-3 which is very impressive with two brand new coaches to the sport. They both have given the team great coaching and the performances speak for themselves.
Sophomore Christian Hamm reflected on how he felt about the changes that occurred this season. “I believe that this season was a change for everyone but we made sure that even with changes we’ll still be strong.”
The team has shown that change can be for the better. The team will strive to keep this momentum for countless years and to develop the strong brotherhood they have achieved along the way.
Freshman Alex Ventura says, “I’m very glad to have been in this team. I have learned so much from others and I can’t wait for many years to come.” The future is bright for DeMatha soccer and the teams are prepared for anything that comes their way.
