The DeMatha track team has kicked off their 2024-25 season with determination, talent, and early success. At their first meet, standout athletes Myles Dixon, Jalen Stubbs, Larry Jordan, Jeremy Mack, Michael Price, and Noah Hopes delivered personal bests, helping secure 1st place at the PG Sportsplex. “Seeing everyone push themselves and achieve personal bests was inspiring. It shows the dedication these athletes have,” said new head coach Harry Allen.
While the season has started strong, the team recognizes there is room to grow. “So far, I think the team is off to a slower start, but we have a lot of talent,” noted senior Michael Manley. “I think within a month, the team will be where it needs to be. The Virginia Showcase is what I’m really looking forward to because it’s one of the biggest meets of the year, and there’s going to be a lot of competition.”
The team is also focused on creating a culture of leadership and hard work. “We’ve got a bunch of guys who are just getting comfortable in the program,” said fellow senior Daden Grogan. “Everything is starting to come together. This group is special, and we’re aiming to bring another championship to DeMatha. I just want to lead by example and show the younger guys how to excel on and off the track.”
With upcoming meets at the PG Relays and Virginia Beach, DeMatha is building momentum for what promises to be a standout season.
