Spring sports will be here before we know it, including the upcoming DeMatha lacrosse season.
Senior goalie Cole Wittlinger says he is “very excited for the season” and that his personal goals are to do “whatever is necessary to win the championship.” He says he stays motivated through the season by thinking about the championship. “That’s why you wake up at 4:15 a couple times a week; that’s why you run a little, push a little harder. You have that image in your mind of winning and you’ll do anything to get there,” he says.
Senior attackman Bobby Komins is also excited for the season. “We have a powerful team and can go all the way,” he says. He and Cole both believe St. John’s will be their toughest opponent.
Senior midfielder Jackson Ross is also ecstatic for the season to start. “We have been working all offseason with the same group of core guys since September and I am definitely excited to suit up against opponents and show the conference and the country what we can do.”
As they prepare for their final season, the seniors thought about what they will miss most after graduation. Bobby and Cole both said they’ll miss the other kids on the team. Jackson said, “I’m going to miss a lot about these last four years, but nothing more than spending time with my teammates in the Heurich parking lot before practices and games, making memories that I will definitely never forget.”
The first game of the season is against Bullis on March 6.
