Jacob Wallace is a senior at DeMatha Catholic High School and he is a special type of athlete!
Jacob plays on both the varsity football and basketball teams, starring on both. On the court, Jacob is the basketball team’s starting point guard, controlling the pace of the offense and picking up 94 feet on defense. He says it’s important to him that “I’m being a vocal leader. Since I’m a point guard, everybody will look to me if they don’t know what to do and I need to be ready to help them.”
Wallace holds multiple D1 offers from schools like Hampton, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Howard, and many other mid to high major schools. “[I’m] just truly blessed that coaches want someone like me to be the lead guard of their college team; it means a lot,” said Wallace. Jacob also was just selected to be a McDonald’s All American Nominee, calling it a great honor.
Jacob also excels on the football field as the team’s starting defensive back. “I think playing both sports helps with each other. I can use stuff I used in basketball and apply it to football and vice versa,” he says. Wallace was chosen to be first team All-Met, first team All-WCAC, and WCAC first team all-defense. “It’s a pleasure to be recognized alongside amazing players in both sports.”
Jacob holds multiple D1 offers in football, as well, from schools like USF, Marshall, West Virginia, Howard, and Temple. Jacob Wallace being a two-sport star is very impressive, but even more impressive is his academic excellence off the court and field. Jacob holds a 3.3 GPA in the classroom. One key to his success is utilizing the Academic Support Center. “I go to Ms. Phalen daily to stay on top of my work and never get behind,” he says.
Wallace will look to commit to a school in the next couple of months but we know whoever gets Jacob will be getting a star!
