As the 2024-25 DeMatha Varsity Basketball season is coming to an end, there are 7 seniors who look forward to the next chapter of their life and basketball career. 3 out of the 7 seniors have committed and signed to go on and play sports at the collegiate level. Charles Thomas III ’25, who is an unsigned senior said,
“I’m just keeping my trust in God. I know when the time is right the school that’s for me will show up.”
Thomas has been playing great for the Stags and is a big reason for their success this season. Kade Sebastion ’25, a 6 ‘4 guard, decided to commit to American University in September. Sebastian was asked about how he was feeling about his commitment to American University.
“It felt great going into my senior year knowing that i’ll have a chance to play at the next level. It allows me go out there and just play my hardest trying to win every game and have fun with my brothers.”
The last senior who is committed to play in college is guard Jacob Wallace ’25. However, Jacob’s journey is different than others. Jacob was an outstanding defensive back for DeMatha’s Varsity Football team (who won the conference championship this year) and has just recently signed to play football for the Iowa Hawkeyes next year. Jacob has had 11 offers with only one of them being P4 before being offered by Iowa.
“It was a dream come true! I knew I was good enough to play on the biggest level so I took a shot on myself and waited, and soon enough Iowa came and offered me.”
Jacob signed his letter of commitment alongside his fellow football teammates back on February 5th. The Stags are lucky to have such great senior leadership all around and will be looking to make a huge push in the upcoming playoffs.
