The week of September 28 through October 4 is homecoming week at DeMatha Catholic High School. This is a week where students celebrate the DeMatha spirit in different ways every day.
On Monday, students wore their favorite jerseys; on Tuesday, they wore college gear. Wednesday is twin day, on Thursday students will wear DeMatha gear, and Friday is the black out for the football game. Also, there is a bonfire Thursday evening where students from DeMatha and Elizabeth Seton will attend.
Homecoming is also an event where alumni come to the football game and basically have a reunion with their old classmates and have the opportunity to meet new alumni. All of this is capped off with a homecoming dance that happens every year along with these otherĀ activities.
Homecoming week is one of the most enjoyable weeks that students, teachers, staff, and alumni enjoy every year at DeMatha. Senior Falou Gueye says, “I just want to spend my last year with the guys I’ve been with since freshman year.” Sophomore Nik Stevens says, “I am happy about the chance not to wear my uniform, the football game, and the homecoming dance.”
With that being said homecoming week is the one week at DeMatha where students, teachers, staff, and alumni get to have fun, celebrate the history of students that have attended DeMatha, and to express themselves during this week.
