The WCAC playoffs are over for the Stags after their loss in the semi-finals to PVI, 72-70. With 16 seconds left in the game and the Stags down 62-70, starting PG Jaden Winston grabbed an offensive rebound and put up a tough layup, was fouled, and got the and-one. Although Winston missed the free throw, a PVI turnover would lead to a Jaden Winston corner three-pointer putting the Stags down by three points.

With five seconds left in the game, PVI inbounded and the only thing the Stags could do was foul and hope for two missed shots. That didn’t happen. The Stags, now down 72-67, had seemingly lost the game. But the players didn’t believe that as Kade Sebastian inbounded the ball to Jaden Winston for a final three to end the game.

In the end, the Stags lost 72-70 with Jaden Winston leading the way with 15 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists.  Also having great games were fellow seniors Isaiah Arnold, Mason So, and Adam Fox.

The Stags had a great WCAC season under the coaching of Mike G. Jones III. The Stags had no 4-star or 5-star players this year, but through all of this adversity the Stags stayed together and put together a great season, one all the players are proud of.

The Stags were 9-5 in the WCAC this year taking the fourth seed.  The star player this year for the Stags was senior guard Jaden Winston. This year Jaden Winston has been averaging 12 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals.  The Stags had players receive awards from the WCAC this year, so congratulations to the following players:

Jaden Winston, Senior –  First Team All-WCAC

Malcolm Thomas, Junior – Second Team All-WCAC

Isaiah Arnold, Senior – Honorable Mention All-WCAC

Mason So, Senior – Honorable Mention All-WCAC

Congratulations to all award winners!!!

The Stags WCAC season may be over, but there are still plenty of games left for the Stags to play. The Stags will be participating in the Maryland Private School State Basketball Tournament to kickoff the month of March.
