For my third interview of the year, I interviewed junior catcher and third baseman Jayden Dennis, who is a transfer from Good Counsel. Jayden is in the midst of the college recruitment process as he tries to elevate his game in order to play at the next level. While he got off to a strong start to his high school career with the Falcons, he has looked even better in his first season as a Stag on the dirt. He has a fundamentally sound skill set, and has shown great improvement in his abilities at the plate. He also plays with his heart on his sleeve, and has injected swagger in a positive way this season to a tremendous team. Here is the interview with Jayden Dennis.
Q: What is your daily routine on a day to day basis in preparation for practice and games?
A: I lift on the days before and do alot of rehab because I am coming off Tommy John Surgery so I do a lot of care to get it in good condition on games and practices. Then I stretch out my full body in the morning everyday and on game days I visualize what I want to do at the plate and in the field so I can be ready for it when it comes in games.
Q: What are some personal goals and team goals for the season?
A: Obviously a team goal is to win the championship. A personal goal is to make All WCAC this year and to improve from last season.
Q: You all are rolling as a team this year sitting at number one in the power rankings, how does it feel and ho do you look to continue it?
A: It feels great to be number one and I look to keep playing as a team and staying locked in
Q: Who’s a teammate you feel deserves praise whether you’re close with them or they are a huge part of the team’s success?
A: The Man Charley Magoulick
Q: Are you looking to play ate the next level and if so, describe your recruitment process and how it’s going.
A: Yes of course. The recruitment process is moving a little slow right now since I was coming off an injury but I’ve had a couple of school show interest in me and I’m waiting until this summer to see if I get more looks and find the right fit.
Thank you to Jayden for actually reaching out to me expressing interest in doing an interview, and good luck to him in his career at a new school as well as the Stags who start postseason play very soon. Season recap will be out once the postseason is over.
