On February 6th, the NBA had one of its most busiests trade deadlines in recent history.
One of these trades consisted of The Lakers sending Anthony Davis, Max Christle, and a 2029 first round pick to the Mavericks for Luka Doncic, Maxi Klever, and Markieff Morris. This trade caused a lot of buzz around the country and most believe the Lakers won this trade by a mile, DeMatha students included like Patrick Moran. He believes that the Lakers won this trade by far and it’s “not even close”.
In Luka’s Debut, he scored 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists in his 14 minutes played in the 132 – 113 win over The Jazz. The Lakers head coach JJ Redick said “I thought our three main guys did a nice job of playing off of each other” when asked about Luka’s debut. Davis on the other hand, scored 26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 blocks in the 116 – 105 win vs the Rockets. Unfortunately, Davis injured his adductor which sidelined him for 2 weeks to a month depending on how he’s feeling, fortunately, he does not need surgery and is expected to make a full return in a month.
Some other trades that you might have missed consisted of the Wizards sending Kyle Kuzma to the Bucks for Khris Middleton and a pick swap in 2028. This solidifies the Wizards rebuild and hopes for future success.
These are just to name a few of the trades that happened on one of the busiest trade deadlines in NBA history.
