Many students at DeMatha, including Marvin Kearney ’25, consider Ward to be the “best quarterback in the draft” and the “perfect fit” for Tennessee.
These prospects’ ages span from 20 years old, like defensive end Nic Scourton, who is projected to be a first-round pick, to older prospects like 25-year-old quarterback Tyler Shough, who is projected to be drafted later but brings seven years of college experience. Teams generally favor younger players because they have more time to nurture and develop them, leading to better performance.
The Washington Commanders, with their 29th overall pick this year, have several pressing positions to fill, including Defensive End, Running Back, Wide Receiver, and Defensive Back, as per Pro Football Focus (PFF). General Manager, Adam Peters, aims to build upon the success of last year’s draft, where he selected quarterback Jayden Daniels, who led his team to the 2024-25 NFC Championship.
