DeMatha’s indoor track team had a great season, but as the winter season concludes and the weather gets warmer, it’s time to get ready for outdoor season.

The Stags had a great indoor season, breaking records and setting a U.S. number #1 time for the 4x800m relay. The relay team consisted of senior Chase Lopez and juniors Josh Gresham, Kelvin Blake, and Daden Grogan. The team is working very hard day by day to improve all their athletes and break PR’s. Sophomore Jeremy Mack Jr. said, “I’m excited for this outdoor season and looking forward to everyone making new PR’s and hopefully winning the WCAC championship.”

Head Coach Buddy Crutchfield called a meeting on Thursday, February 22, where he addressed the high expectations he has for this upcoming season. Coach Buddy said, “This outdoor season is going to be competitive but we’re going to be tough.” He has made it clear that his intention going into this season is to win the WCAC title. Last year, DeMatha came in a close second to Archbishop Carroll. The track team is hoping to continue their momentum from a great indoor season and bring home their fourth WCAC title since Coach Buddy took over as head coach in the winter of 2016.
