The DeMatha Stags tennis team is coming off a great season last year. They ended the season as the runner-ups in the WCAC Championships. The Stags fell a few points short of becoming the conference champions, but the team ended up having a duo win the #1 seed in doubles. Antonio Santos and Charles Wood were able to take home the crown.

I was able to speak with an active member of the team about the upcoming season. Antonio Santos is a senior who has big goals in mind for himself as well as the team. He is the captain of the team and has big hopes of going all the way.

“Going into this season I can confidently say this is the best chance we have had at winning the WCAC in a long time,” he says. “We have a very deep team that is truly motivated to do nothing less than succeeding to the best of our abilities.” Santos is very confident in the team success this upcoming 2023 season. He states, “I have no doubt that we can knock out the top competition across the DMV area and stay at this level for many years to come.”

There is a lot of buzz coming around the tennis program. The team is on a mission to win themselves a championship, and they believe they have the tools to do it. They have started off the 2023 season strong and are sitting at 6-0 in the WCAC. The team is looking to keep the same success to keep going as they compete for a WCAC championship.
