Lamar Jackson contract situation

Lamar Jackson contract situation

Throughout the NFL offseason the biggest stories were contract extensions for Quarterbacks. Top QBs like Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, Kyler Murray, Derek Carr, Matthew Stafford, and Deshaun Watson all received massive extensions before the season began. But there’s one QB missing from that list and that QB is Lamar Jackson.

Senior Darian Simpkins doesn’t think Lamar Jackson should be the league’s highest-paid quarterback. “Lamar hasn’t taken his team to the next level in terms of success. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes have taken that leap that Lamar hasn’t yet, so no not right now.”

Lamar Jackson is his own agent and he gave the Ravens a deadline of the Friday before the week 1 opener to negotiate an extension. The Ravens failed to do that so he has decided to bet on himself this season to get the contract he has been asking for which nobody knows because he is his own agent. The Ravens have seen this in the past when Joe Flacco decided to bet on himself and the Ravens ended up winning the superbowl and Flacco received a massive extension.

Senior Issac McGinnis believes the Ravens can re-sign Lamar. “I am confident, but here’s the thing. The Baltimore Ravens should have been re-signed Lamar Jackson [already] and now Lamar Jackson is off to a hot start and that price is going up. [Ravens General Manager] Eric DeCosta is gonna look at that new contract and sigh because Lamar Jackson is playing at a MVP level and deserves a max contract.”
