This weekend DeMatha’s Varsity Basketball Team will take on Sierra Canyon and Oak Hill Academy.

These are two huge games for the Stags to get the year started. Sierra Canyon is a big team that is led by Bronny James and Ashton Hardaway but in an interview, senior Logan Lewis said “They cannot run with us” so look for the Stags to push the tempo in that game. Their second game is against a talented Oak Hill team led by a DeMatha transfer A.J. Swinton.

Watching the team practice it looks like they are going to look to apply a lot of ball pressure in that one to slow their athletic guards from getting to the lane. DeMatha is down a man in Isaiah Arnold this weekend with injury so look for guys to really step up in their roles. The seniors will be very vital in these games and look for guys like Jaden Winston and Mason So to take on that leadership role. Malcolm Thomas is a big name to watch in these games as the Stags will look to get him going early with a couple huge dunks. These games are going to be sold out with a crazy atmosphere so we will really get to see what our Stags have been working so hard for.
