Mr. Tony MacAulay recently coached his 800th game in an exhibition matchup against Gonzaga. He is entering his 24th year as the program’s head coach with six championships and has four times been named WCAC Coach of the Year. There is no doubt about it, our hockey program is in good hands.
Brady Wallace, a sophomore transfer, is looking forward to this upcoming season. “I am excited to build relationships with my brothers, having fun, and going on to win a championship,” Wallace says. Last year, the Stags lost in the quarterfinals after a 13-15-3 season. They expect to have a bounce-back year and go all the way.
Defender, Kellen DePola, who started as a freshman last year, will bring good experience on the back end. “I’m looking forward to spending time with my teammates, especially the seniors. In order to get to a championship level we have to become close as a team. We want to send the seniors off with a championship.”
“We have a great lineup and work well together,” fellow sophomore Mason Schodzinski says. “We practice hard and give it our all in practice to prepare for our games. We work really hard so we can come out on top with a championship this year.” Schodzinski played varsity last year and has very high hopes for this season.
DeMatha has started the regular season 0-1-1, playing St. John’s to a 3-3 draw before Friday’s 3-1 loss to Archbishop Spalding. The prep team will be back in action Monday at Calvert Hall in Mt. Pleasant before returning home to the Gardens Ice House to face Paul VI on Wednesday.
