Gear up for the battle of the year as the DeMatha Stags take on the Gonzaga Eagles. This is a huge WCAC Final matchup as both schools have a historic rivalry against each other.
The Stags are the current reigning WCAC champs and are looking to defend their title this year. So far they have been cruising with a perfect 10-0 record this season. They are stacked with talent but Gonzaga won’t be easy to beat as they are looking to seek revenge from their last meeting.
When Gonzaga last faced DeMatha, the Stags won at home 43-14 on Halloween night. Gonzaga enters this week with a 7-4 record and are coming off a big win at home, 31-28 over Good Counsel in the semifinals.
While the Eagles and Falcons played a close game, DeMatha is looking scary after their semifinal ended in an insane 42-0 blowout over a talented St. John’s team that pushed the Stags to overtime in their regular season meeting three weeks earlier.
DeMatha definitely has what it takes to go back-to-back. “I for sure think that we are the strongest team in the whole conference,” sophomore running back Phyve Linder says. “We’ve beat Gonzaga already this season so I’m pretty confident we can come out with a comfortable win next Sunday.”
This should be an exciting game that will most likely be very high scoring. “I’ve gone to a couple games already this season and they are definitely an entertaining team to watch and I’m sure they won’t disappoint, especially in a final game where a lot is at stake,” says sophomore Chase Harrelson.
The game will take place at Navy Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis on November 23 at 6 p.m. and will definitely be one of the biggest games in the whole country.
