As of this past week, DeMatha’s JV basketball season has officially begun. The team is looking to build off of their 2024-25 season with a lot of fresh faces.
There are high hopes for the JV Stags from players and fans this season. “I think our team is going to be the best in the WCAC and I’m looking forward to an undefeated season,” sophomore forward Ethan Michel says. His teammate, fellow sophomore forward Brad Jackson adds, “I feel confident in our squad… I’m hoping to get my name out there.”
DeMatha’s JV basketball team is optimistic they’ll have a successful season and finish as the top squad in the WCAC.
With the team’s schedule yet to be released, the Stags will spend these next couple of weeks preparing for their first game. Players are expecting to play between 20 and 23 games this winter. Their first preseason game is set for this Wednesday against Potomac School. The Stags are seen as heavy favorites in this one.
There still is competition within the team, however. “I’m not completely satisfied because I still want to make varsity,” shares sophomore guard Noah Gill. “I don’t want to use [making the team] as an excuse to slack off working,” he continues. There certainly won’t be time to slack off with the team’s rigorous practice schedule.
