With the fall season ending, many sports have wrapped up at DeMatha. The DeMatha Crew team officially closed out their fall season with a positive outcome.
Junior rower Eli Cummins reflected on the year, saying, “It was a fairly good season, but our main focus is still the spring season, so that’s what we have been building toward for the whole fall and now winter seasons.” Eli added, “Our varsity four had some great success winning the Head of the Anacostia, Occoquan Challenge, and the Occoquan Chase regattas.” The rowing team’s success in the fall sets them up for even more in their primary spring season, and they are only going to get better through the winter.
Sophomore Thomas Metz is excited for what’s ahead. “I’m looking forward to seeing results for our hard work during winter in the spring.” This was a common theme as all the rowers expressed how excited they are for the upcoming season.
Even with the fall season officially ending for 2025, there is still a lot more ahead. Winter workouts are starting up, and the team is already preparing for a strong spring season. The rowers are locked in, motivated, and ready for what’s next. There’s definitely more to come for this team in the future.
